Would love to show you some glorious pictures of the landscaping I have accomplished in our yard since I last blogged... but I hit a roadblock. More like a mishap - of the sort that could only happen to me of course.
While using a leaf blower to clear debris away from one side of the house so that I could plant some glorious flowers and bushes, imagine my shock and surprise when the leaf blower decides to become engulfed in flames as I am using it. As it happens... in slow motion of course, I realize that I need to set it down on the concrete walkway as opposed to the leaves and grass. Walking with this blower slowly over to the front of the house, flames still burning, I set it down as it dawns on me that it is electric and STILL PLUGGED INTO THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE!
By the time I make my way back to the side of the house to unplug the blower then run back to the other side of the house to grab the hose to put out the now fully engulfed appliance, hubby appears at the door laughing so hard that tears are streaming down his face.
I am hugging the nearest pine tree, hose in hand, trying to regain feeling in my legs and concentrating on not passing out from panic.
I was not amused at his reaction.
Not even the "From where I could see you inside it looked like your ass was on fire!" comment helped.
I just looked at him.
He wisely went back inside.
Now of course we can laugh about it - but I am still without a blower and I refuse to use a rake for the large areas.
My yard looks like it belongs in the middle of the forest where no one should happen to stumble onto the eye sore.
Ahhh well.
Perhaps for Mother's Day I will be gifted a new leaf blower.
